In April of 2017 the Monroe County Commissioners and the Monroe County Board of Aviation Commissioners were able to finalize efforts to purchase a 55-acre parcel of land contiguous with the Northwest end of the airport. The land was purchased on a Bond Anticipation Note (BAN) through Regions bank. The land is perfect for future business development on the airport, with its direct connection both with the highway and the airfield. The land will be utilized for farming revenue until which time the land can be leased for development.
